It takes time and resources to keep up on the latest trends in Social Media. At Infinity Media USA LLC, we make “staying current” on the latest industry trends our priority. We make learning a big part of our business strategy.

Dozens of Social Media “techies” and a handful of the best Social Media “influencers” gathered at the renowned Miami Ad School to participate in Social Media Week Miami (#SMWMiami).

In 2015, my partner John R. Gagain Jr. and I hit the vibrant artistic neighborhood of Wynwood, Miami and joined the crowd at #SMWMiami.

With plenty of sessions happening simultaneously during #SMWMiami’s three full days on the science of Social Media, gathering a list of the best takeaways isn’t easy. Amidst #SMWMiami’s many good sessions, the good vibe of Miami, and seasoned speakers, let me share, a list of what I found to be the most interesting points on stage:

  1. The “Sharing Economy” is not new, but thanks to Social Media it’s becoming more and more useful for creating and discovering new ways of exchanging goods and services.
  2. When sharing content, it’s always a good idea to educate, entertain and inspire.

3. Master data analytics. Know your audience. Who are they? Where are they? This is essential to making your Social Media strategy effective.

4. Timing is absolutely part of the equation: Timing of the opportunity, and timing of the context. Don’t tweet in the middle of the night.

5. Think mobile first.

6. You don’t have to be on every Social Media channel. Find the right platform for you, your business, or your organization.

7. Numbers are just the result, watch the behavior and analyze patterns.

8. Given the intersection between smartphones, Social Media, and the Internet, people are now taking action from every corner of the world.

9. Social Media bottom line: Find the right mix between message, timing, and format.

10. As we learned at Social Media Weekend #SMWknd in 2012, again: Digital empowers people to enable change.
